What children experience
A numeracy curriculum for ages 2 to 5 focuses on play-based learning, counting, basic shapes, and measurement through daily routines, songs, and hands-on activities like sorting objects, recognizing numbers, and comparing sizes
Highlights
- Number Sense: Recite number names in order up to 5 or 10; match an object to a number word (one-to-one matching).
- Shape & Space: Recognize basic 2D shapes like circles and squares; explore spatial words like in, out, on, and off.
- Sorting & Patterns: Group items by simple attributes like color or size; copy a basic two-part pattern.
- Measurement: Use comparative words through play, such as big/small or more/less.
